Robotics, Engineering, and the Future of Cities in Japan
June 2025
In June of 2025, MSA families participated in an unforgettable 9-day Robotics and Engineering Tour of Japan, filled with STEM exploration and rich cultural experiences. Students observed real-time operations at JAXA mission control, rode a 170-mph bullet train, and witnessed live testing of a 305-mph magnetic levitation train, offering a glimpse into the future of high-speed travel. They also visited CYBERDYNE Inc. to see HAL exoskeleton technology in action, explored cutting-edge science museums, and immersed themselves in Japanese tradition with a tea ceremony, sushi-making class, and a peaceful stroll through Hamarikyu Gardens. The trip included breathtaking views from the Tokyo Skytree and a visit to a traditional village overlooking Mt. Fuji. With amazing food, vibrant shopping, and lasting memories, this tour was the perfect blend of STEM and culture.
"The entire trip was amazing! I especially enjoyed visiting CYBERDYNE Inc. and seeing their HAL technology in action. It was inspiring to see how robotics can help stroke survivors retrain lost arm movements through advanced neuro-rehabilitation."
